Co-taught Classrooms
At Atlas, we believe that thriving students start with thriving educators. Our mission is to provide an exceptional experience for our team, which includes comprehensive scheduling, coaching, resources, and competitive compensation. Decades of research underscore the importance of investing in human capital to boost student achievement. Therefore, we focus on recruiting, developing, and retaining talented educators to maximize each student’s academic and personal potential.
Homeroom teachers at Atlas benefit from:
- A rigorous base curriculum
- Two 50-minute planning periods each day
- Designated time to internalize and customize lesson plans
- Participation in regular data team meetings
- Personalized coaching with mentor feedback
- A school calendar that includes over 30 full days of professional development
While these elements align with best practices, what sets Atlas apart is the integration of 30 full days of professional development into our yearly calendar, along with its reflection in staff salaries.
Our model supports effective teaching by maintaining classrooms with approximately 25 students, co-taught by two educators. This setup allows for flexible groupings and personalized instruction, such as co-teaching, small group support, or one-on-one assistance. It ensures all students receive tailored support and fosters an inclusive, stigma-free environment for those with special needs.
Our commitment to teachers encompasses a rigorous curriculum, ample planning time, personalized coaching, and over 30 full days of professional development annually. These integrated opportunities for growth and rest help maintain a sustainable work-life balance, allowing teachers to continuously enhance their skills and effectively support their students.
